California Virtual Practice & Licensing

Where do I need to be located for our sessions?

Because I am licensed as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in California, you must be physically located within the state of California at the time of each therapy session, regardless of where you permanently reside.

My California license allows me to provide psychotherapy only to clients who are physically present in California during our sessions.

How do online therapy sessions work?

Before your appointment, you'll receive a secure video link by email or text.

Simply click the link from your computer, tablet, or smartphone a few minutes before your scheduled appointment to join our private virtual meeting room.

To protect your privacy and help you get the most from therapy, I ask that you join from a quiet, confidential space where you can speak freely without interruptions or being overheard.

Is online therapy secure and confidential?

Yes. Your privacy is a top priority.

I use a secure, HIPAA-compliant telehealth platform designed specifically for healthcare professionals. Unlike standard video applications, this platform uses encrypted technology to protect your personal information and maintain confidentiality.

Sessions are not recorded unless we have discussed it in advance and you have provided written consent.

Fees, Payment & Insurance

What are your session fees and how do I pay?

My fee is $175 per 50-minute psychotherapy session.

Payment is due prior to your scheduled session and can be made securely through an online bank transfer.

Do you accept insurance?

I am an out-of-network provider and do not bill insurance companies directly.

If your insurance plan includes out-of-network mental health benefits, I can provide a monthly Superbill, which you may submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement.

Because coverage varies by plan, I encourage you to contact your insurance provider before beginning therapy to verify your out-of-network outpatient mental health benefits.

Can I use my HSA or FSA?

Yes. Health Savings Accounts (HSA) and Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) can generally be used to pay for psychotherapy services. If you have questions about your coverage, I recommend checking with your plan administrator.

What is your cancellation policy?

If you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment, please provide at least 24 hours' notice.

Appointments cancelled with less than 24 hours' notice, or missed appointments, will be charged the full session fee, as that time has been reserved specifically for you.

I understand that unexpected emergencies and sudden illnesses can occur and consider those situations with care and flexibility on a case-by-case basis.

Getting Started & Ongoing Therapy

How do I get started?

The first step is scheduling a complimentary 15-minute phone consultation.

During this conversation, we'll discuss what brings you to therapy, your goals, and whether we feel we're a good fit for working together.

If we decide to move forward, I'll send you secure electronic intake forms through my client portal. Once your paperwork has been completed, we'll schedule your first therapy session.

How often will we meet?

Most clients begin with weekly sessions to establish momentum and build the therapeutic relationship. As therapy progresses, we may adjust the frequency based on your goals, needs, and progress.

How long does therapy last?

The length of therapy varies for each person. Some clients seek support for a specific concern over a shorter period, while others choose longer-term therapy for deeper healing, personal growth, and lasting change.

What can I expect during the first session?

Our first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another. We'll discuss your current concerns, personal history, therapy goals, and any questions you may have.

Together, we'll begin developing a treatment plan that reflects your unique needs and supports your therapeutic goals.

Do you work with adolescents and couples?

Yes. I provide psychotherapy for adolescents, adults, and couples, tailoring therapy to each person's unique circumstances, challenges, and goals.

Crisis & Emergencies

What if I have an emergency?

Because I provide outpatient psychotherapy through telehealth, I am not able to offer emergency or crisis services.

During our initial intake, we will develop a personalized safety plan that includes your current location, an emergency contact, and nearby emergency resources.

If you are experiencing a mental health crisis or believe you may be at immediate risk of harming yourself or someone else, please:

  • Call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room.

  • Call or text 988, the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, for immediate support.

  • If you are outside the United States, contact your local emergency services or crisis hotline.
